(1st ITALIAN GAME FESTIVAL)

PRESS RELEASE

The Festival was held between the 3-7 October 1990 at the CASINO of the LIDO of VENICE. It was presented by SD2 studiogiochi (Dario De Toffoli & Co) and by Rodolfo Burcovich.
The Festival offered:
CARD GAMES OF THE VENETIAN TRADITION (in collaboration with the great Alberto Fiorin): Briscola, Madrasso, Tresette and Scopone Tournaments.
A conference about the history of these games and demonstrations of other less common kinds of games, such as "Zia greca".
Tournaments and Championships of classic games like Chess, Draughts, Backgammon, Gin-rummy, Mah-Jong.
Events of modern boardgames like Risiko!, Abalone, Othello, Top3, Paroliamo/Contiamo, Paroliere, Dungeon & Dragons, Scrabble...

Meeting-debate
: Friday, October 5 there was a meeting-debate about games and sports: HYPOTESIS FOR AN ASSOCIATION OF ALL THE MIND SPORTS. The Presidents of different Italian Games Federations, several CONI's salespersons, important figures of the world of games and sports, journalists and representative citizens took part in it.

Marginalia
: The Bibliographic Study Marginalia by Dino Silvestroni (the only one that in Italy had to do with books about games) in occasion of the Festival presented a new catalogue with ancient and modern volumes, both kinds impossible to find. Marginalia was at the Festival exposing all the books of the catalogue, besides a very interesting exhibition of old games.
